safety certification program

The KMIT Loss Prevention Safety Certification Program is a voluntary Program designed to reduce workers compensation claims and increase safety awareness in city employees. By complying with the guidelines set forth in the program, Cities have the opportunity to earn discounts on their Workers Compensation premium each year. Click on the link to view the questionnaire that will be used to evaluate management practices and safety activities for cities who choose to participate in the program. Each year a KMIT/IMA Risk Control team member will make contact to schedule time for a visit with member cities to perform an evaluation and walk through departments to help identify hazards that could potentially lead to employee injuries.

After August 1st each year the city scores will be calculated to determine their safety rating and discount on workers compensation premiums the following year. At the League of Kansas Municipalities Annual Conference the cities will be recognized for the safety commitment and awards will be given for Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of achievement.
